Immaculata Comeback Earns 3-2 Win

Reading, Pa. (Sept. 21, 203) – Immaculata University (3-7) won the fourth and fifth sets to takea  3-2 win over Alvernia University (4-6) Saturday morning in non-conference women's volleyball action at Jack McCloskey Court.

Immaculata took the opening set 25-17 before the Crusaders came back to with the next two for a 2-1 lead.

The Mighty Macs ran out to a 16-4 lead in the opening set putting the host Crusaders in a hole.  Alvernia responded to but the gap back down to seven points, 24-17, but Immaculata scored the final point of the set on a blocking error by the Crusaders front line.

The second set was tied at 16-all when the Crusaders made their move winning six of the next seven points on their was to a 25-20 win.

The third set was close again until the Mighty Macs put together a run to take a 19-14 lead.  Alvernia battled back taking eight of the next 10 points for a 22-21 lead and hanging on for a 25-23 win.

Immaculata opened up a 10-4 lead in the final set, but nearly gave it all up on another comeback from the Crusaders who scored four straight to pull within two, 10-8.  Immaculata got a side out on the next serve then won two straight for a three-point cushion.  The teams then alternated points with Immaculata taking a 15-10 win.
