Center Valley, Pa. (Sept. 21, 2013) - Junior Alex Martyn (Media, Pa./Pennridge) scored a game-tying goal in the 54th minute, but DeSales University (4-4) struck five minutes later for the winner in a 2-1 victory over Alvernia University (3-5) Saturday afternoon in non-conference men's soccer action at DeSales.

The Bulldogs got the only goal in the first half when Matt Poorman scored on a penalty kick.

Martyn scored his third of the season eight-plus minutes into the second half.  RJ Fisher (Philadelphia, Pa./Roman Catholic) served a long ball over the top of the DeSales defense and Martyn touched it past a charging Bulldog keeper.

Wes Frebel scored on a similar look in the 59th minute getting a ball served over the top from Scott Webb.

David Giannini (Harleysville, Pa./Faith Christian) made one save for the Crusaders while counterpart Colin Sulpizio was credited with three.

Alvernia travels to Neumann University for a non-conference match on Wednesday.
