Grantham, Pa. (Sept. 24, 2013) - Messiah College (6-5, 2-2) defeated Alvernia University (3-9, 0-4) by a 3-0 final Tuesday evening in Commonwealth Conference women's volleyball action at Messiah.

The Falcons took the opener by a 25-16 score then blitzed out to a 2-0 lead with a 25-10 win in the second set.  They finished off the match with a 25-15 win in the third set.

Alvernia got a team-high seven kills from Kristen Rupp (Cranford, N.J./Cranford) and 16 assist from Jamie Morris (Wallingford, Pa./Strath Haven).  Toni Maurer (Center Valley, Pa./Southern Lehigh) led the defensive efforts with 13 digs.

Alvernia continues the season hosting Eastern Mennonite on Friday.
