Grantham, Pa. (Sept. 28, 2013) - Tenth-ranked Messiah College (5-2, 1-0) scored in the third minute of play and added two more first-half goals en route to a 5-0 win over Alvernia University (5-3, 0-1) Saturday afternoon in Commonwealth Conference Field Hockey action at Messiah.
The Falcons got the first goal from Moriah Pfautz and a pair of goals from Caroline Wulf. Three different Crusaders got off two shots each and
Alexis Klopp (Bernville, Pa./Tulpehocken) earned a defensive save.
Alvernia split time in net between freshman Becca Brosious (Drexel Hill, Pa./Archbishop Carroll) and
Erin Wunsch (West Lawn, Pa./Wilson). Brosious made 10 saves in the first half. Wunsch stopped three in the second.
Alvernia hosts York College on Tuesday.
