Rosemont, Pa. (Sept. 28, 2013) - Senior goalie Colleen Maher (Wall, N.J./Wall Township) made six saves to record her eighth shutout of the season as Alvernia University (8-1-1) blanked Rosemont College (6-3) Saturday afternoon in non-conference women's soccer action at Rosemont.

The shutout brings Maher's career record total to 17.  She is one shy of the season record set by Kirsten Kelley (2007-10) in 2010.

"I felt like the team put together its best 90 minutes of the season," said head coach Bill Bonewitz after the win.  "We played with a lot of passion and energy."

Kristen Eckert (Oradell, N.J./River Dell) and Hannah Mallets (Beavercreek, Pa./Mechanicsburg) both scored their first goal of the season--the first career goal for Mallets.

Eckert scored on a rebound of a header that hit the crossbar in the 44th minute.  Mallets scored five minutes into the second half on a rebound of her own shot that was saved by the Rosemont keeper.

Alvernia hosts FDU-Florham on Tuesday.
