Lower Gwynedd, Pa. (Oct. 20, 2014) - Gwynedd-Mercy University (9-5) scored twice in the first 21 minutes of play in a 2-1 win over Alvernia University (5-11) Monday evening in non-conference women's soccer action at Gwynedd-Mercy.
The Griffins posted the opening goal in the fourth minute on a thru ball into the box that Theo Horozoglou was able to sneak inside the far post for a 1-0 lead.Â

Alvernia generated three more shots in the opening half, but GMC goalie Jess Tadley saved the two that were on frame.
The Crusaders ramped up the pressure with seven more shots in the second half, but couldn't the equalizer.
Margaret Burnett made one save in net for the Crusaders, who defensively kept the Griffins to just two shots in the second half.
Alvernia returns to conference action on Tuesday when it travels to Arcadia University for a 7:00 p.m. game.
