Glenside, Pa. (Oct. 21, 2014) - Arcadia University (13-3, 4-1) scored a pair of goals early in the first half en route to a 7-0 win over Alvernia University (5-12, 1-3) Tuesday evening in Commonwealth Conference women's soccer action at Arcadia.
The Knights netted goals in the 16th and 18th minutes, and built a 3-0 lead with another goal in the 21st minute. They held the 3-0 lead into the half then added four goals in the second half.
Alvernia freshman
Jessica Plunkett made 17 saves in the loss, the most for a Crusaders netminder since Kristen Kelley stopped the same at DeSales in September of 2009.
"Playing three games in the last four days just took out our legs, and we were not able to give Arcadia the match we wanted to," said Alvernia head coach
Bill Bonewitz after the loss.
The Crusaders played a tough game against conference playoff qualifier Lebanon Valley on Saturday then traveled to Gwynedd-Mercy on Monday before Tuesday night's road game.
"This was a tough loss coming off a superb effort at GMC where we totally controlled possession, just couldn't finish off goals," said Bonewitz. "Just a match where the mnid was willing but the bodies weren't able to match the pace of play."
Alvernia continues the conference schedule Friday evening at Stevenson.
