Williamsport, Pa. (Oct. 4, 2014) - Lycoming College (9-0-3, 1-0) used its highly-defensive style to post a 1-0 win over Alvernia University (5-5-1, 0-1) Saturday afternoon in Commonwealth Conference men's soccer action at Lycoming.

The Warriors got the only goal they would need in the 66th minute on a cross to the far post that connected with a header from Kyle Thomas.

Alvernia freshman Zach Rider made four saves in net for the Crusaders.  Conner Keenan recorded the shutout without having to make a save.

Lycoming finished with a 10-6 advantage in shots and a 3-1 edge in corner kicks.

Alvernia returns home to host Widener Univeristy on Wednesday in Commonwealth Conference action.
