Deyo Racks Up 20 And 13 Double-Double

Doylestown, Pa. (Nov. 29, 2014) - Senior Harrison Deyo scored 20 points and pulled down a game-high 13 rebounds to lead Alvernia University (4-2) to a 73-66 win over Delaware Valley College (3-3) Saturday afternoon in non-conference men's basketball action at James Work Gymnasium.

The Crusaders built a 64-54 lead with 7:17 left on a Lamont Clark 3-point play.  The Aggies answered with a 12-0 run while the Crusaders went 0-for-5 from the floor with six turnovers.  Del Val took at 66-64 lead on a Barry Brockington 3 with 3:20 to go.  It was the only 3 of the day for Brockington and the last points for the Aggies who put up their own 0-for-5 over the last three minutes.

Alvernia went to Deyo in the post to tie the game at 66-all then again on the next possession for a 68-66 lead.  Charles Cooper added a steal and an uncontested layup and Mike Miller hit 3-of-4 free throws for the final margin.

Clark finished the game with 16 points and eight rebounds.  Miller and Clark scored 13 points apiece.  Del Val got 14 points apiece from Brockington and Francis Arnold.

Alvernia had the largest lead of the first half at 15-11 when Miller canned his first of two 3s on the day.  The first 20 minutes featured nine ties including at the horn when Deyo flushed a put-back dunk of a 3-point miss from Kirby Turner.

The game was tied at 47-all eight minutes into the second half--the 12th tie of the game--before the Crusaders put together a 17-7 run to take the 10-point lead.  Miller made three free throws after being fouled on a 3-point attempt and also knocked down an elbow 3 during the run.  Cooper also hit a 3 and Clark finished the run with a 3-point play in the paint.

Del Val's lead-changing run started with a pair of free throws from Brockington and a 3 from Nick Sullivan.
