York, Pa. (Sept. 10, 2014) - York College (1-1-2) used a second half goal to help secure a 2-1 win over Alvernia University (3-2) Wednesday evening in non-conference action.
The Spartans got the only goal in the first half when Brendan Saberton scored on a header on the left post.
York scored again in the second half, taking a 2-0 lead in the 55th minute
. Rocky Elgogari kept the Crusaders' hopes alive, netting his third of the year in the 79th minute, beating Spartan's goalie Charlie Johnson and bringing Alvernia within one. Elgogari took another shot late in the game for the tie, but York blocked the shot to hold onto the win.
The Crusaders had nine shots on the night from seven different players.
Alvernia returns to action on Saturday hosting Dickinson College at 4:00 pm
