Reading, Pa. (Sept. 13, 2014) - Dickinson College (4-1) scored a game-winning goal in the 76th minute of a 2-1 win over Alvernia University (3-3) Saturday afternoon in non-conference men's soccer action at Alvernia.
The Red Devils opened the scoring in the sixth minute when Danny Sheppard carried the ball into the box and beat Alvernia freshman
Zach Rider inside the right post. The Crusaders tied it up six minutes later when
Cody Shirk setup
Alex Martyn for his fourth goal of the season. Shirk got off the original shot following a corner kick and the rebound found Martyn who made no mistake with the chance.
Dickinson got the eventual game-winner in similar fashion when a shot off the corner rebounded to George Naranjo who converted for the 2-1 lead.
Rider made five saves in net for the Crusaders while Reed Milbrath needed just one save for the win.
Alvernia hits the road for another Centennnial Conference match up at Franklin & Marshall on Wednesday.
