Lancaster, Pa. (Sept. 17, 2014) - Alvernia University (3-3-1) answered a 1-goal deficit three times and settled for a 3-3 draw with #6 Franklin & Marshall (5-0-1) Wednesday evening in non-conference men's soccer action at F&M.
The Diplomats got on the board early with a goal in the second minute of play on a free kick. Alvernia responded for the first time to tie the score at 1-1 in the 19th minute. Freshman
Rocky Elgogari centered a ball to R.J. Fisher and he made good on his first goal of the season--also the first goal of the year scored on the Dips after five straight shutouts to start the season.
F&M took a 2-1 win on a header in the 34th minute, and held that lead at halftime.
The Crusaders knotted the score at 2-all in the 69th minute when Elgogari netted his fourth of the season assisted by
Shawn Laskey, but F&M needed just two minutes to pull ahead 3-2 on a one-timer by Sam Lane.
Once again, Alvernia had the answer when
Josh Wollaston set up
Cody Shirk for his first goal of the season.
Zach Rider needed one save in the two extra frames to earn the tie. He finished with 10 saves.
Alvernia returns home to host DeSales University on Saturday.
