Reading, Pa. (Sept. 30, 2014) - Messiah College (13-6, 3-1) earned a 3-0 win over Alvernia University (5-7, 1-3) Tuesday evening in Commonwealth Conference volleyball action at the Physical Education Center.

Kristen Sipling led the Crusaders with six kills.Â
Jamie Morris had 14 assists and
Teresa Zavala had a team-high 14 assists.
The Crusaders made valiant pushes in each of the first two sets. They pulled within four points, 20-16, in the opener on a kill from
McKenna Achenbach, but Messiah regained control with four straight points and held on for a 25-18 win.
The hosts pulled within three points in the second set at 18-15, but once again Messiah earned the points it needed getting six of the next eight points for a comfortable lead on its way to another 25-18 win.
The Falcons had a bit of an easier run in the final set winning 25-13.
Alvernia heads to Misericordia a week from Saturday.
