Reading, Pa. (Sept. 6, 2014) - Bridgewater College (3-0) finished off a pair of first-half goals en route to a 2-0 win over Penn State-Altoona (0-2) Saturday evening in game one of the Crusader Cup Women's Soccer Tournament hosted by Alvernia University.

The Eagles had a golden opportunity in the seventh minute of the game, but Altoona keeper Mackenzie Strubhar made a great save to keep the game scoreless.

Ten minutes later the Eagles broke through when a failed clear by the Lions' defense resulted in on open-net header for Julia Baca.

Bridgewater had a handful of golden opportunities later in the half, but failed to find the back of the net and settled for a 1-0 lead at the halftime break. Strubhar made seven of her eight saves over the opening 45 minutes.

The Eagles finally managed to add an insurance goal in the 62nd minute when Kelly Patterson carried a thru ball to the top of the 18 an beat Strubhar just under the crossbar.

Bridgewater held a 16-5 advantage in shots and an 8-1 lead in corner kicks. Bridgewater keeper Krista Kelly recorded the shutout collecting four saves.

The Eagles advance to face the winner of Saturday night's second game between host Alvernia and St. Mary's College (Md.). The Championship game is scheduled for 6:00 Sunday evening. PSU-Altoona will face the loser in the Consolation game at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday.
