Reading, Pa. (Feb. 4, 2015) – Messiah College (12-9, 8-4) put four players in double figures in a 62-49 win over Alvernia University (6-14, 2-9) Wednesday evening in Commonwealth Conference women's basketball action at Jack McCloskey Court.
The Falcons got a game-high 17 points from Jen Fairbanks, 15 from Gillian Glackin, 13 from Dominique Seamon, and 10 from Hannah Nichols. The Crusaders were led by
Stevie Fortna who tallied 12 points.
Messiah scored the first seven points of the game and led throughout. The first half lead hit 17 points, 23-6 on a 3 from Seamon with 9:23 on the clock. The Crusaders chipped it back to 13 points and trailed by 18, 39-21 at the break.
Alvernia made a run to cut the gap to 11 points, 57-46, with just under four minutes to play, but Messiah responded with three straight free throws en route to the 62-49 win.
