Reading, Pa. (Mar. 14, 2015) - Misericordia University (1-4) scored with three seconds left in regulation then added three goals in the extra period for a 15-12 overtime win over Alvernia University (1-1) Saturday afternoon in non-conference women's lacrosse action at Alvernia.
Alvernia scored five straight goals in the final 14:29 erasing a 4-goal deficit and taking a 12-11 lead on
Julie Sutton's first goal of the game with 20 seconds left. Misericordia won the ensuing draw and Liz Mulvey connected to force overtime.
Misericordia scored 40 seconds into the overtime period and added another goal in the first three minutes for a 14-12 lead. The Cougars scored 30 seconds into the second three-minute period for the 15-12 final.
Alvernia sophomores
Abby McCarthy and
Brooke Campione scored four goals each to lead the Crusaders.
Colleen Reilly made four saves in net for the Crusaders.
