BOX SCORE Reading, Pa. (Mar. 17, 2015) - Swarthmore College (2-2) scored twelve goals in the first half and added five more in the second in a 17-4 win over Alvernia University (1-2) Tuesday evening in non-conference women's lacrosse action on a cold night at Alvernia.
Swarthmore scored the first series of goals on the night, opening the game with a 4-0 run. Alvernia put its first goal on the board at 16:57 as
Julie Sutton collected her seventh of the season to cut into the Garnet lead 4-1. Swarthmore would answer though, making their second run of the night with seven unanswered goalsto go ahead 11-1.
The Crusaders found the net with five minutes left in the first, notching back-to-back goals.
Brooke Campione gave Alvernia its second goal on the night at 5:44, and
Abby McCarthy followed suit 30 seconds later to close the gap 11-3.
The Garnet would net one more goal in the first, taking a 12-3 margin into the half.
The Crusaders would score the final goal of the night as Sutton found the net again with less than two minutes left to play.
Sutton led the way with six shots and two goals for the Crusaders.
Colleen Reilly and
Kallie Taylor combined for five saves in net for the Crusaders.
