Weissenberger Named Rookie of the Year, Kight and Hawley Earn All-MAC Commonwealth Honors

Reading, Pa. (May 6, 2026) - Alvernia University Women's Lacrosse first year Grace Weissenberger was named the MAC Commonwealth Rookie of the Year and seniors Kayleigh Kight and Cailyn Hawley both earned All-MAC Commonwealth honors for their performances during the 2026 season, as announced by the Middle Atlantic Conference Wednesday. 

Kight earned first team All-MAC Commonwealth honors as a defender and Hawley earned a second team All-MAC Commonwealth nod, also as a defender. 

Weissenberger led the Golden Wolves in points during her first year with 44, and also led the team in assists with 22. Weissenberger also ranked third in goals for Alvernia with 22, had one game-winning goal and put 36 of her 49 shots on goal in 2026. Weissenberger ranked tenth in assists per game in the MAC Commonwealth and her 44 points ranked her 19th in the Commonwealth. Weissenberger recorded at least one point in 14 of Alvernia's 17 games during her first year campaign, including a seven point performance against Hood with three goals and four assists. Weissenberger is the first Alvernia Women's Lacrosse player to win a conference "Of The Year" honor in program history. 

Kight earned first team honors as a defender for her performance during her senior campaign. Kight started in and played in all 17 games for the Golden Wolves. She ranked second on the team in caused turnovers with 43, and also picked up the second most ground balls on the year with 47. Kight ranked second in the Commonwealth in both caused turnovers and caused turnovers per game with 2.53. Her 47 ground balls was the fourth most in the Commonwealth. Kight recorded a season high eight caused turnovers against Albright, and picked up seven ground balls. This is Kight's third All-MAC Commonwealth honor. She was named a second team All-MAC Commonwealth defender in 2025 and honorable mention in 2023. 

Hawley earned second team All-MAC Commonwealth honors as a defender for her performance during her senior season. Hawley led the MAC Commonwealth in caused turnovers with 49, which also broke the Alvernia single-season record. Hawley averaged 2.88 caused turnovers per game, which also was the best in the Commonwealth, and was tied for second for ground balls with 53. Hawley caused at least one turnover in all 17 games for the Golden Wolves during the 2026 season, and recorded a season-high seven against York to secure the Alvernia single season record. This is Hawley's first All-MAC Commonwealth honor. 

Messiah's Grace Pettitt earned Attacker of the Year honors, York's Sydney Mentzer was named Midfielder of the Year, Kate Walsh from York was named Defender of the Year and Messiah's Grace Hejeeb was named Goalie of the Year. Grace Weissenberger was named Rookie of the Year and Heather McKay from Messiah was named Coach of the Year.
