Five-Goal Fourth Carries Bryn Athyn Over Alvernia, 15-11

Manning Nets Hat Trick For Crusaders

Reading, Pa. (Mar. 21, 2015) - Bryn Athyn (3-0) scored five goals in the fourth quarter to secure a 15-11 win over Alvernia University (3-5) Saturday afternoon in non-conference men's lacrosse action at Alvernia.

The Crusaders scored five of the last six goals of the third quarter--including a goal from Benjamin Manning splitting defenders and beating the Bryn Athyn goalie on a bounce--to knot the score at 10-10 and started the fourth on the man-advantage.

Bryn Athyn killed off the penalty and took the lead on a goal from Connor Buick two minutes into the quarter.  Alvernia was whistled for an illegal body check and Joe Campagna was sent to the box for two mintues, non-releasable.

Bryn Athyn scored twice on the ensuing advantage to take a 13-10 lead with 10 minutes to play.  The Lions added two more for a 15-10 lead and Benjamin Manning netted his third goal of the game for the Crusaders with under a minute to play for the final count.

Brian Schay, Zach Brommer, and Colin Rothweiler had two goals each for the Crusaders.  Mason Etier made 10 saves in net.

Brommer scored the first goal of the game for the Crusaders before Bryn Athyn scored four straight for a 4-1 lead.  The Lions' lead was 8-5 at the half after both teams scored twice in the second.

Bryn Athyn scored the first two goals of the third quarter before Alvernia's charge to tie the game at 10-all.

Alvernia opens the conference schedule on Wednesday with a trip to Arcadia.
