Wilkes-Barre, Pa. (Mar. 21, 2015) -
Angel Adams and
Jacquelyn Strange scored five goals each to carry Alvernia University (2-2) to a 19-4 win over King's College (2-4) Saturday afternoon in non-conference women's lacrosse action at King's.
The Crusaders got out to a 13-4 advantage at halftime and scored the only six goals of the second half.Â
Colleen Reilly needed just four saves over 43 minutes to pick up the win. Freshman reserve
Kallie Taylor played the final 17 minutes and made one save without allowing a goal.
King's scored the first two goals of the game and held a 3-1 lead just four minutes into play. Alvernia answered with three straight goals from
Candace Knight,
Abby McCarthy, and Strange to take a 4-3 lead, but King's scored to stop the streak and knot the score at 4-4 with 14:28 left in the first half.
The game looked like it might be a back and forth affair at that point, but Alvernia closed the half with nine straight goals and scored the only six of the second half.
Julie Sutton scored a hat trick for the Crusaders, and McCarthy and Knight finished with two goals apiece.
Alvernia continues the non-conference schedule Monday at Wesley College.
