Reading, Pa. (Mar. 28, 2015) - Lebanon Valley College (6-3, 2-0) scored seven goals in the second quarter on its way to a 13-4 win over Alvernia University (3-7, 0-2) Saturday aftenroon in Commonwealth Conference men's lacrosse action at Alvernia.
The Dutchmen netted two goals in the first quarter and the first three of the second for a 5-0 lead. Alvernia sophomore
Benjamin Manning scored the first of the day for the Crusaders at 6:43. Alvernia was assessed a two-minute penalty for an illegal body check 30 seconds later and after forcing a turnover in the defensive end, the clear got to Manning who finished on the break to pull within three at 5-2.
The defense killed off the rest of the two-minute penalty, but the Crusaders couldn't turn it into positive momentum as LVC scored three straight to end the half and take a commanding 9-2 lead at the break.
Both teams scored once in the third quarter and LVC tacked on three goals in the final three minutes of play for the 13-4 final.
Alvernia continues the conference schedule at Widener on Wednesday.
