Frederick, Md. (Apr. 11, 2015) - Hood College (5-8, 1-4) used a six-goal first quarter catalyst to push them past Alvernia University (3-10, 0-5) Saturday afternoon in Commonwealth Conference action at Hood.
The Blazers opened the contest on a 7-0 run, collecting six goals in the first quarter and tacking on their seventh midway through the second quarter. The Crusaders posted their first goal with just under three minutes left in the second as Bejamin Manning netted his first of the day off the pass from
Joseph Campagna.
Manning struck again early in the third quarter, cutting the Crusader deficit to 7-2. Hood answered with two more goals, reestablishing its seven-point margin at 9-2.
Alvernia would outscore the Blazers in the final quarter, notching three over Hood's two. At the ten minute mark,
Colin Rothweiler ripped his tenth of the season. Manning added his third of the day with three minutes left to play, and
Jordan Ludwig tacked on the Crusaders final goal in the final minute.
The Crusaders continue Commonwealth Conference play on Wednesday, hosting Stevenson University at 4:00 pm on the Turf Field.
