Reading, Pa. (Sept. 12, 2015) – Susquehanna University (2-1-1) scored goals at each end of the second half to take a 2-0 victory over Alvernia University (1-4) Saturday afternoon in heavy rains on the Alvernia Turf Field.
After a scoreless first half from both teams, Susquehanna put away its first goal in the 48
th minute when Emily Sullivan got her foot on a cross off a corner for the 1-0 lead. The second goal came in the 81
st minute as Susquehanna converted on a one-on-one match-up to secure a 2-0 win.
Alvernia had the upper hand in shots on goal, holding the 7-5 advantage on the day. Freshman
Johnna Shank topped the Crusaders offensive categories, leading in shots and shots on goal.
Jessica Plunkett took the loss in the net, gathering three saves.
Alvernia will have a quick turn-around, hosting Penn State Altoona tomorrow afternoon at 1:00 pm.
