Margaret Wentzel scored her eighth and ninth goals of the season in the second half and Alvernia University (4-3) earned a 3-2 win over Stockton University (1-4) Tuesday evening in non-conference field hockey action at Stockton.
The Osprey took an early lead with a goal in the fifth minute, but the Crusaders answered on a goal from
Andrea Wysocki to level the score at 1-1 in the 15th minute. Stockton took a 2-1 lead in the 23rd minute and held that lead into the second half.
Wentzel scored her first goal of the game in the 55th minute, then netted the game-winner in the 62nd minute. Both goals were breakaways. Wentzel has now scored at least one goal in all six games this season.
Junior
Rebecca Brosious--the current MAC Commonwealth Defensive Player of the Week--made five saves in net for the Crusaders.
Alvernia opens the conference schedule this Saturday at Messiah.
