Wentzel Scores Two Second-Half Goals, Alvernia Tops Stockton, 3-2

Stockton, N.J. (Sept. 22, 2015) - Junior Margaret Wentzel scored her eighth and ninth goals of the season in the second half and Alvernia University (4-3) earned a 3-2 win over Stockton University (1-4) Tuesday evening in non-conference field hockey action at Stockton.

The Osprey took an early lead with a goal in the fifth minute, but the Crusaders answered on a goal from Andrea Wysocki to level the score at 1-1 in the 15th minute.  Stockton took a 2-1 lead in the 23rd minute and held that lead into the second half.

Wentzel scored her first goal of the game in the 55th minute, then netted the game-winner in the 62nd minute.  Both goals were breakaways.  Wentzel has now scored at least one goal in all six games this season.

Junior Rebecca Brosious--the current MAC Commonwealth Defensive Player of the Week--made five saves in net for the Crusaders.

Alvernia opens the conference schedule this Saturday at Messiah.
