York, Pa. (Sept. 26, 2015) - Alvernia University (8-7) split the first two matches at the York College Women's Volleyball Tournament Friday evening knocking off King's College 3-0 before dropping a 3-1 decision to York.
Three different players hammered down 11 kills each for the Crusaders in the opener. Laura Wachowica,
Kristen Sipling, and
Emily Smith all reached the mark to lead the team. Smith did it on 20 attempts with just one error for a .500 hitting percentage. Alvernia took the match 25-17, 25-23, 25-19.
Alvernia opened the York match with a 25-17 win in the first set, but the Spartans came back with wins of 19, 23, and 15.
Sipling was the only player in double figures in kills for the Crusaders against York with 10. Smith finished with a team-best 15 digs.
Alvernia continues the York Tournament on Saturday facing FDU-Florham and LaRoche.
