Lancaster, Pa. (Oct. 1, 2016) - Franklin & Marshall College (5-5) scored seven minutes into the game and again with seven minutes left in a 2-0 win over Alvernia University (3-7) Saturday afternoon in non-conference women's soccer action at F&M.
Alvernia had three chances in the first six minutes but coudn't convert. The Diplomats countered with pressure and following a failed clear by the Alvernia defense, the Dips deposited their first shot of the game for a 1-0 lead.
The hosts held a 1-0 lead at the halftime break and scored an insurance goal in the 84th minute when Reanna Leoni found the net from the edge of the box.
F&M had a 17-8 advantage in shots and Alvernia keeper Jess Plunkett made six saves.
The Crusaders open up the MAC Commonwealth schedule hosting Messiah College on Tuesday.
