Reading, Pa. (Oct. 14, 2016) - Alvernia University (3-8, 0-1) fell 4-0 to No. 14 Messiah College (8-2, 2-0) in its MAC Commonwealth opener Tuesday evening on Alvernia's Turf Field.

The Falcons found their stride in the second half, notching three goals to expand on their 1-0 first half advantage. Messiah's leading scorer, Marisa Weaver, put away a goal in each half.

The Crusaders played solid defense through the first half, limiting Messiah to just five shots on goal.

Jessica Plunkett collected five saves on the night.

Alvernia continues its conference schedule on Saturday, traveling to Lycoming College for a noon start.
