Frederick, Pa. (Sep. 30, 2016) - Alvernia University dropped both matches at the MAC crossover volleyball tournament Saturday afternoon at Hood College.
The Crusaders started their day by losing the first two sets to King's College (11-6) by a score of 25-11, 25-16. The Crusaders claimed the third set with a late game rally with a score of 25-21. The Monarchs closed out their first match on the day by winning the fourth set by a score of 25-13.
Emily Smith lead the Crusaders with 14 kills.
Alvernia started their second match by winning the first set by a score of 25-23. Manhattanville College (9-4) rallied back to claim the next two sets with the scores of 25-18 and 25-18. The Crusaders won the fourth set 25-20 to force the fifth set. The Valiants won the final set to win the match by a score of 15-10. Kerry Mackey lead Manahattanville with a match high 25 kills.
Kristen Sipling lead the Crusaders with 23 kills and nine digs.
Alvernia travels to face conference opponent Arcadia University this Wednesday night at 7:00 pm.
