Reading, Pa. (Oct. 11, 2016) - Alvernia University (6-15, 1-5) lost in five sets to Lebanon Valley College (15-5, 5-0) Tuesday evening in some Commonwealth conference women's volleyball action.
The Crusaders won the first match on the night by a score of 25-23 to take the advantage over the Dutchmen. The Dutchmen rallied back and claimed the next two sets with the scores of 25-19 and 25-21 to take a 2-1 lead over the Crusaders.
Alvernia was down most of the fourth set but kept the score close. The Crusaders rallied back past Lebanon Valley to win the fourth set by a score of 28-26 and to force the fifth set. The Dutchmen started off with an early rally and continued their momentum to make the score 11-4. Alvernia answered back with a late game run to bring the score to 14-12. Lebanon Valley scored the next point to claim the match with the final score of 15-12.
The Crusaders were lead by
Emily Smith with 22 kills and 21 digs and
Kristen Sipling who had 20 kills.
Alvernia travels to Penn State Berks this Thursday for a non-conference match at 7:00 pm.
