Reading, Pa. (Oct. 15, 2016) – Alvernia University (3-10, 2-2) scored a goal in each half in a 2-0 win over Hood College (9-4, 3-2) Saturday afternoon in MAC Commonwealth men's soccer action at Alvernia.

Tyler Arnold finished off a header on a corner play early in the first half and Kevin McFarland cleaned up a rebound midway through the second.
Alvernia keeper made 10 saves to earn the shutout.
The Crusaders earned a corner kick in the ninth minute.
Austin Young served the ball to the mix where
Tyler Arnold broke through for a header netting his first goal of the season.

Zach Rider made six saves in the first half to keep the Crusaders up 1-0 at the break—none bigger than turning aside a penalty kick with under 90 seconds left in the half.
The Crusaders had a golden chance to double the lead early in the second half, again on the corner. Young's serve in the 46
th minute sailed to the far side of the box connecting with
Chris Guth whose header was just wide past the near post.
Alvernia turned up the pressure in the 76
th minute. Guth put another shot on net that was turned aside by Hood goalie Danny Castillo. Kevin McFarland one-timed the carom off Castillo and collected the rebound a second time finding the side netting on his second of the season.
