Reading, Pa. (Oct. 19, 2016) – Second half offense led Alvernia University (3-10-1, 2-2-1) to a 1-1 double overtime draw against Widener University (3-9-2, 1-3-1) Wednesday evening in MAC Commonwealth Men's Soccer action on Alvernia's Turf Field.
Widener took the 1-0 lead in the first half, holding the margin until the final minute of regulation.

Tyler Arnold kept the Crusaders' hopes alive by netting the equalizer. Arnold managed to gain the offensive advantage in front of the net on a throw in by
Kevin MacFarland, putting away his second goal of the season with a header to force the contest into overtime.
Alvernia threated to repeat its last minute heroics in the first overtime on another throw-in in the 9
th minute, however the Crusaders were unable to get off a clear shot in front of the net as the ball went out just wide to the left.
Both sides found a strong scoring opportunity in the second overtime. In the 106
th minute, Widener launched a shot from close center that hit the cross bar. Alvernia responded two minutes later as MacFarland ripped a shot from the left, but Widener's Dave Sousa managed to collect the save.
Zach Rider earned the draw in goal with six saves on the evening.
The Crusaders continue conference play on Saturday, traveling to Stevenson for a 4:00 contest.
