Williamsport, Pa. (Dec. 13, 2016) - Lycoming College (7-3,2-2) posted 55 first half points in an 80-50 victory over Alvernia University (0-8, 0-4) Tuesday evening in MAC Commonwealth Women's Basketball action at Lycoming.
After building a 22-9 lead through the first 10 minutes, the Warriors shot 63% from the field in the second quarter for 33 points to hold a 55-24 margin at the half.
Lycoming extended its lead to 62-24 early in the third quarter, but Alvernia found a rhythm and put together a 17-5 run across the next seven minutes. Junior
Liv Andrefski notched 7 points in the run, including a pair from behind the arc, to help cut the deficit 67-41.
The Crusaders used solid defense through the last frame to limit the Warriors to 13 points.
Andrefski picked up 11 points on the night, while
Abbie Zerbe and
Maya Cooper tacked on 10 a piece.
Miranda Hoover gathered 13 boards with 4 blocks.
The Crusaders return home on Saturday for a break from their conference scheduling, hosting Goucher College at 1:00 pm.
