Bronx, NY (Dec. 29, 2016) - York College (7-3) posted 43 first half points en route to a 90-33 win over Alvernia University (0-11) in the CUNY Coaches vs Cancer Women's Basketball Tournament Thursday afternoon at Lehman College.
The Spartans kept a hot hand all game, shooting 56% from the floor, making 37 of 66 attempts.
Ahead 10-5 six minutes into the contest, York went on a 12-point run through the start of the second quarter to gain a 22-5 advantage.

Maya Cooper put away back-to-back layups to battle the run, but the Spartans pushed their lead, pulling ahead 43-19 at the half.
The Crusaders continued to struggle to find a rhythm in the second half, collecting just 14 points with 9 from the line. York used Alvernia's dry spell to strengthen its lead, netting 47 points with a pair of 20+ point quarters.
The Spartans received double-digit scoring performances from four different players, including 13 points a piece from Morgan Kuehne and Katie Wagner.
Maya Cooper was the top scorer for Alvernia with 15 points.
The Crusaders will play in the consolation game tomorrow, facing Lehman College, who fell to SUNY Poly 78-72 in the second game of the day. The consolation game is set to start at 2:00 pm. York will face SUNY Poly in the Championship game at 4:00.
