Annville, Pa. (Feb. 6, 2016) - Lebanon Valley College (14-7, 8-4) shot 57% from the field in the second half en route to a 69-25 victory over Alvernia University (8-14, 3-10) Saturday afternoon in MAC Commonwealth Women's Basketball action.
The Crusaders were strong through the first quarter as
Miranda Hoover put away back-to-back buckets four minutes in to put Alvernia ahead. Following a six point Dutchmen run to regain the lead,
Jenna Wolff halted the momentum with a layup to come within two at 10-8.
Lebanon Valley pulled ahead 15-8, but
Maya Cooper made a jumper with 19 seconds left to cut the deficit to five entering the second quarter.
The Dutchmen extended their lead through the second quarter, outscoring the Crusaders 18-7. Alvernia chipped at the lead midway through the period, using an
Olivia Andrefski 3 and a
Chelsea Ebersole layup to close the margin 20-15. LVC push on its lead, taking the 33-17 advantage into the half.
Alvernia struggled to find its rhythm in the second half with Andrefski, Ebersole and Cooper generating the Crusaders offense across both quarters. The Dutchmen took advantage of the Crusaders cold spell, shooting 15-26 from the floor.
Andrefski was the top scorer for Alvernia, making a pair from behind the arc with a pair of steal.
The Crusaders hit the road again on Wednesday, traveling to Arcadia University for a 6:00 tip off.
