Abby McCarthy paced the offense with six goals in the game and nine total Crusaders registered at least one point.
McCarthy broke a 2-2 tie with her second goal of the game and the Crusaders scored four straight to close the first half and take a 6-2 lead into the break.
Eastern scored two of the first three goals of the second half to momentarily close the gap, but Sutton's second of the game started a stright of five straight for the guests that put the game out of reach.
Colleen Reilly went the distance in net for the Crusaders and made 13 saves.
Alvernia plays the second of four straight games on the road next Wednesday at Swarthmore.
