Reading, Pa. (Mar. 12, 2016) - Moravian College (4-1) outscored Alvernia University (1-4) 5-0 in the second quarter on its way to a 10-7 win Saturday afternoon in non-conference men's lacrosse action at Alvernia.
The Crusaders netted two goals in the final 51 seconds of the first quarter to take a 3-1 lead after the opening 15 minutes. Moravian won the opening faceoff in the second quarter and scored on a fast break 10 seconds into the quarter and the Greyhouse were off to the races scoring twice in the first four minutes and three more times before the halftime break for a 6-3 lead after 30 minutes.
Both teams scored two goals apiece in the third and fourth quarters.
Alvernia got a man-up goal four minutes into the fourth quarter to pull within two at 8-6, but Moravian got consecutive goals from freshman Jack Gozzard for a 10-6 lead in the final minute.
Patrick Dunn led the Crusaders with three goals and an assist.Â

Alvernia returns to action Tuesday when it hosts SUNY-Cobleskill.
