Manhattanville Gets 11-10 OT Win Over Alvernia

McCarthy Scores Six For Crusaders

Purchase, N.Y. (Mar. 19, 2016) - Manhattanville College (4-1) scored with just under two minutes left in overtime for an 11-10 win over Alvernia University (2-2) Saturday afternoon in non-conference women's lacrosse action at Manhattanville.

Alvernia junior Abby McCarthy scored a game-high six goals for the Cruaders and handed out two assists.

The Crusaders jumped out to a 7-3 lead with 4:55 left in the first half on a goal by Kaitlyn Ensulo assisted by McCarthy, but the Valiants scored the final two goals of the half to set a 7-5 score at the break.

The Valiants put together a 5-1 streak to take a 10-9 lead with 7:08 remaining in the game and Angel Adams scored three minutes later to tie the game at 10-10.  Neither team scored for the final four minutes of regulation or the first three-minute overtime period.

The Valiants drew a foul and a free position shot with two minutes left in the second overtime and Jenna Nance converted the chance for the win.

Colleen Reilly made five saves in net for the Crusaders.
