Dallas, Pa. (Mar. 23, 2016) - Alvernia University (3-2) scored three goals in first four minutes of play then hung on for a 5-4 win over Misericordia University (2-5) Wednesday evening in non-conference women's lacrosse action at Mangelsdorf Field.
After taking a 3-2 lead into the halftime break, the Crusaders had a successful start to the second half scoring two goals over nine minutes for a 5-2 lead.
Misericordia scored two goals over the next 14 minutes to cut the gap to one, 5-4. Alvernia senior
Colleen Reilly made a save on a free position shot with just over five minutes to play and another save with under two minutes to go. She finished with a dozen saves in the win.
Abby McCarthy led the way with two goals for the Crusaders.
Alvernia returns home to face Wesley College in a non-conference game on Saturday.
