Reading, Pa. (Mar. 5, 2016) - Junior Abby McCarthy scored five goals to lead Alvernia University (1-0) to a 16-4 win over Marywood University (0-3) Saturday afternoon in non-conference women's lacrosse action at Alvernia.

McCarthy scored the first two goals of the game in the opening four minutes, added a third later in the first half, and scored twice in the second half.

The Crusaders held a 7-2 lead at the halftime break and put the game away scoring six straight to open the second half.  Senior goalie Colleen Reilly made six saves to earn the win.

Four other players--Kaitlin Ensulo, Julie Sutton, Angel Adams, and Tequila Donnelly--scored two gaols apiece.

Alvernia returns to action on Wednesday at Eastern the for the first of four straight games on the road.
