Reading, Pa. (Apr. 1, 2016) - Stevenson University (3-7, 1-0) used a nine goals second half to lift it to a 15-6 win over Alvernia University (4-3, 0-1) Friday afternoon in MAC Commonwealth Women's Lacrosse action on Alvernia's Turf Field.

The Mustangs and the Crusaders exchanged goals early to open the contest. After Stevenson scored less than a minute in, Abby McCarthy knotted the game at 1 two minutes later, picking up her 27th goal of the season. 

Stevenson put together three goals over the next ten minutes, pulling ahead 4-1. Alvernia chipped away at the margin as Alyson Keene and McCarthy put away goals just before the five minute mark to come within one at 4-3. The Mustangs managed to net two more before the half to take a 6-3 advantage into the final 30 mintues. 

McCarthy stayed hot to open the second half, partnering with Brooke Campione to net her third of the night less than two minutes in to cut the lead 6-4.

The Mustangs then went on a four goal run to establish a 10-4 gap. Julie Sutton halted Stevenson's momentum, notching a free position shot for her ninth goal of the year.

Sutton would net her second and the Crusaders final goal with just over a minute left of play.

Stevenson added its final goal in the final minute.

Colleen Reilly collected 15 saves in the net for Alvernia. 

The Crusaders return to play on Wednesday, traveling to Widener for a MAC Commonwealth matchup set for 7:00 pm.
