Chester, Pa. (April 6, 2016) - Widener University (5-4, 2-0) scored in the second overtime with two minutes remaining to take a 9-8 victory over Alvernia University (5-3, 0-2) in MAC Commonwealth Conference women's lacrosse action Wednesday night.
Widener's Kristi Rohrer scored three goals on the night with her most important goal coming in the last few minutes of play to seal the victory over the Crusaders.
Widener jumped to an early lead over Alvernia scoring 30 seconds into the game. The Crusaders scored three goals in the first half to bring the score to 3-3 going into the break.
Widener scored a late goal with just over five minutes left to play to even up the score and send it into overtime.
Abby McCarthy for the Crusaders had five goals and an assist on the day. Goalie
Colleen Reilly had 10 saves on the day.
The Crusaders return home this Saturday April 9
th to host Lebanon Valley College.
