Reading, Pa. (Apr. 13, 2016) - Albright College (8-4, 3-1) used a 13-goal first half to push past Alvernia University (4-6, 0-4) Wednesday afternoon in MAC Commonwealth Women's Lacrosse at Albright.
The Crusaders responded to every goal through the first 20 minutes. The Lions opened the contest with a 2-0 lead, but
Julie Sutton notched her first of the day five minutes in to cut the lead in half.
After Albright put away another pair to extend the margin 4-1, Sutton struck again after a ground ball pickup to bring Alvernia within two.
The two squads exchanged goals before
Kaitlin Ensulo netted a free position goal to close the gap 5-4.
Brooke Campione then mirrored Ensulo, ripping her own free position goal to balance out a Lion goal to stay within one.
The Lions then hit their stride, putting together a 10-point run across the end of the first and the start of the second to pull ahead 16-5.
The Crusaders tacked on six more goals through the second half, scoring three of the last four goals.
Sutton finished with a team high 3 goals on the day.
Abby McCarthy and
Angel Adams notched two goals a piece, while
Alyson Keene and
Tequila Donnelly each added a goal of their own.
