Thomas Malik threw a two-hitter in game one and Alvernia University (21-12, 12-3) pounded out 14 runs in game two as the Crusaders swetp a doubleheader from Lebanon Valley College (13-18, 6-9) Saturday afternoon in MAC Commonwealth baseball action at Angelica Park.
Malik went the distance for the Crusadrs in game one and improved to 4-1 in an 8-0 shutout. He struck out three and needed just 78 pitches for the 7-inning complete game.
Ben Dubas went 2-for-4 with a run scored and three RBIs.Â
Cameron Coons was 1-for-2 with two RBIs. Alvernia scored two runs in the first inning, took a 3-0 lead after two innings, added three runs in the fifth and two more in the sixth.
In game two the Crusaders scored 14 runs on 17 hits in support of
John Catchmark who improved to 7-0 going five innings allowing two runs--one earned--on seven hits.
Coons and
Ian Shaffer both homered for the Crusaders. Coons went 3-for-4 at the plate with three runs scored. Shaffer was 2-for-2 with two runs and two RBIs.Â
Dillon Dunne was 1-for-3 and drove in four runs.
Alvernia hosts Moravian College Wednesday in a non-conference game.
