Haverford, Pa. (Apr. 6, 2016) - Alvernia University (14-11) scored nine runs in the eighth inning and head coach Yogi Lutz earned win number 798 in a 20-6 win over Haverford College (14-6) Wednesday evening in non-conference baseball action at Haverford.

The Crusaders took a 3-0 lead with three runs in the top of the first inning.  Haverford slowly worked its way back to level scoring twice in the fourth and again in the fifth to tie the score at 3-3, but Alvernia score foru runs in the sixth and nine in the eighth to pull away.

Six different players scored at least two runs for the Crusaders and Ben Dubas hit a grand slam as part of the 9-run eighth.

Dubas finished with four RBIs and Matt Briner drove in three.  Six players had two hits apiece for the Crusaders who pounded out 16 hits.

Dylan Richards earned the win in relief going 1.2 innings and allowing one run on one hit with one walk.  Alvernia sent four more pitchers to the mound after Richards to work an inning apiece.

The Crusaders return to the conference schedule this Friday when they host Hood College for a single game Friday at 3:00.  Lutz could earn his 800th win as early as Saturday when Alvernia travels to Hood for a doubleheader.
