Lancaster, Pa. (Sept. 1. 2016) – Alvernia University opened the 2016 season with a 2-1 second half victory over Lancaster Bible College Thursday afternoon in non-conference Women's Soccer action.
Trailing 1-0 entering the second half, the Crusaders netted the equalizer in the 70
th minute.
Johnna Shank put heavy pressure on Chargers goalie Kaitlyn Scheuing, firing off back-to-back shots. While Scheuing deflected the first attempt, Shank put away Alvernia's first goal of the day on her second shot from the top of the 18.

Erica Dunkelberger for her first goal of the season, giving Alvernia the 2-1 go ahead.
The Crusaders outshot Lancaster Bible 15-9 with 6 corners.
Jessica Plunkett earned the win in goal, making three saves.
Alvernia takes to the road again on Wednesday, September 7
th, for non-conference play against Rutgers-Camden. Game time is set for 4:00 p.m.
