Camden, NJ (Sept. 7, 2016) - Rutgers-Camden (2-1) tallied a trio of goals in the second half to take a 3-2 win over Alvernia University (1-1) Wednesday afternoon in non-conference Women's Soccer action at Rutgers.
The Crusaders took a 1-0 advantage late in the first half. In the 38th minute,
Erica Dunkelberger put away the feed from
Johnna Shank for her second goal of the season.
The Raptors notched goals in the 52nd and 66th minutes to take a 2-1 lead over the Crusaders.
Alvernia answered with the equalizer three minutes later. Shank was ready as
Bailey Stover ripped a shot from the top of the box, deflecting the shot past Rutgers goalie Katie Gurba to tie things up 2-2. Shank's goal marks her second of the season.
Rutgers notched the game winner in the 83rd minute.
Jessica Plunkett collected 9 saves in goal for the Crusaders.
Alvernia takes to its home turf on Saturday, hosting the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg at 5:30 pm.
