St. Davids, Pa. (Sept. 10, 2016) - Sixth-ranked Haverford College (2-1) scored a goal with 12 seconds left in the first half and added one more after the break in a 2-0 win over Alvernia University (0-4) Saturday afternoon in non-conference men's soccer action at Eastern University.
The Crusaders will face the host Eagles in the second day of a two-day weekend classic on Sunday.
Alvernia kept up with the Fords for almost the entire first half only to see late pressure result in the game's opening goal in the 45th minute.

Zach Rider made six of his 13 saves in the first half and Haverford's Sam Miller turned away five shots.
Haverford netted the insurance goal 13 minutes into the second half and held the Crusaders at bay the rest of the way.
