Reading, Pa. (Sept. 17, 2016) – Alvernia University (3-3) recorded its second shutout of the season, taking a 2-0 victory over Cabrini College (0-5) Saturday afternoon in non-conference Women's Soccer action on Alvernia's Turf Field.
The Crusaders notched the game winner on a penalty kick opportunity in the 30
th minute of the first half.
Bailey Stover drove the PK to the left side of the net, just out of the reach of diving Cabrini keeper Gabby LeGendre, for her first goal of the season.
Alvernia tacked on its second goal less than two minutes into the second half. Freshman
Lauren Gough made the most of her follow up chance, gathering her own rebound off a header off the post and putting it into the back of the net for her first collegiate goal.
Jessica Plunkett picked up the win in goal with three saves.
The Crusaders return to action on Tuesday, traveling to Ursinus College. The non-conference matchup is set for a 7:00 p.m. start.
