Elizabethtown, Pa. (Sept. 21, 2016) - Sixteenth ranked Elizabethtown College (5-1) scored a goal in each half in a 2-0 win over Alvernia University (0-8) Wednesday evening in non-conference men's soccer action at Ira R. Herr Field.

The Blue Jays netted the first goal of the game in the 20th minute and maintained the 1-0 lead at the halftime break.  Twenty-five minutes into the second half the hosts struck again with the insurance goal.

Alvernia junior Zach Rider made nine saves in net--some of them spectacular--for the Crusaders.

Alvernia wraps up the non-conference schedule next Wednesday hosting Penn State-Berks then opens up the MAC Commonwealth schedule the following Wednesday with perennial power Messiah College.
