Malorie McCoy scored twice and 19th ranked Alvernia University (8-0, 1-0) continued to build on the best start in program history with a 4-0 win over Arcadia University (0-8, 0-1) in the MAC Commonwealth opener for both teams Saturday afternoon at Alvernia.
In the eleventh minute,
Alexis Krall converted a pass from
Margaret Wentzel to put the Crusaders up 1-0. The lead doubled seven minutes later on the first of the game from McCoy, assisted by Michela Burke on a corner play.
Andrea Wysocki made it 3-0 Alvernia with a goal--assisted by Wentzel--in the 31st minute and the Crusaders had a comfortable advantage at the halftime break.
McCoy scored the only goal of the second half--assisted by Krall--and the Crusaders, who enjoyed a 20-3 advantage in shots, took the 4-0 win..
Rebecca Brosious played the first half and made one save, Emma Beanesderfer played 11 minutes in the second half and recorded one save, and
Nicole Heinze played the final 24 minutes without being tested.
The Crusaders continue the season with a non-conference game at Delawave Valley on Tuesday before an important match up with Lebanon Valley next Saturday.
